Located between Monterey and Pebble Beach at the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, Pacific Grove was originally founded in 1875 as a Methodist retreat which prohibited alcoholic beverages until more recently.
This quaint and charming town is now proud to call itself ‘The Last Hometown, USA’ and is also famously known as ‘Butterfly Town’ in honor of the Monarch Butterflies that over winter there. You will find old cottages that bear a plaque.
Over the years, Pacific Grove has also become a fine dining community. Has one golf course. Holds an annual Butterfly Parade, a Good Old Days event and the Feast of Lanterns. Among other locations, filming took place for “Big Little Lies”.
The city also has within its boundaries one of the Peninsula’s most famous attractions, Point Pinos Lighthouse, the oldest working lighthouse in California.
